Walter Benjamin
A bold, geometric alphabet has been designed for this edition of Walter Benjamin’s essay Unpacking My Library, dating back to 1931 and newly published for the occasion of the 57th Venice Art Biennale: large black geometric shapes – referring to typesetting cases – alternate throughout the book with text-only pages. Bringing together form and content, the letters of the title combine to create an abstract image on one side of the printed sheet, visually suggesting the shape of the library, the book, suggesting the moment when the books are removed from their crates and put back into visible order.
